Katcho, San Luis Obispo County’s Fourth District Supervisor is running for re-election. Last election, he ran unopposed; however, in this year’s primary, he will face two challengers as reported by the Santa Maria Times:

Fourth District Supervisor Katcho Achadjian will face two challengers in the June primary who are looking to take his seat on the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors.

Nipomo resident and small-business owner Judith Wirsing and Chris McSweeney, a South County business owner, have filed to run for the 4th District supervisorial seat held by Achadjian.

Wirsing is a Nipomo Community Services District director who has served on NCSD since first being elected to the board for in 2000. She was re-elected to a four-year term in 2002.

Achadjian was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in 1998, when he ran against a field of four candidates. He ran unopposed in 2002.

I do not know Mr. McSweeney, or anything about him. The article describes him only as South County business owner; however, after a quick Internet search, I was unable to locate anything about him. I’ll post more, once I have found out more information about him.

Ms. Wirsing, on the other hand, is more well known in the Nipomo community. At one time she ran a copy and print business in Nipomo; however, she went out of business. I don’t know whether she re-opened in another community, or whether she may be operating out of her Nipomo home. As the Santa Maria Times noted, she is currently a director on Nipomo Community Services District board. My impression of her grasp of South County issues, or even Nipomo issues is that it is incredibly weak.

Katcho, the current Fourth District Supervisor, has been a very popular supervisor in our community. He has a good grasp on South County issues, and understands the art of governing. He has been very supportive of Nipomo, as its supervisor.
